Crate Training Your Puppy, with Dove Cresswell: A Review of This Online Video |

This short (roughly six-minute) video begins with describing some of the problems that crate training a puppy can solve. Then it tells you how to set up the crate -- the screenshot here is from that section, and Dove explains why she recommends the blanket. Finally, she has tips (including an interesting one I had never come across) for helping the puppy get more used to the crate. I liked her explanation of why crating a puppy helps provide it with a natural sense of security. So many people don't realize this. Of course, you want to keep the amount of time that the animal is in the crate to a minimum, and that means you will need to have someone stop by and care for the pup if you are gone for some hours. (I would have liked a stronger comment from her regarding this point.) As with all the programs in this online video puppy and dog training package, the information is presented clearly and simply, and would be great for kids. crate train a puppy, as I am a strong advocate of using crates wisely.
